Keep Calm and Get a Facial

Esthetics813 is where I go for all of my skincare needs. 1)  Tell me a little about yourself:  How long have you been in business?  What made you go into skincare?

I have loved skincare skin & rejuvenation since about the age of six. Memories of getting into Mami's jar of Olay (now I will never put that on my skin, I am a die-hard PCA Skin girl)  are vivid and by eight years of age I had given my grandmother a "facelift" by duct-taping her face back, LOL. I can't remember a time when I didn't live, love or experiment with skincare. In November of 2015, I opened my own skincare spa boutique, prior to that I worked at another local spa for about a year, my formal training and internship began at Aveda in 2012.

2)  What services do you offer?  

At Esthetics813 we are a full-service face and body spa offering services from body wax to body wraps, facial to rejuvenation treatments. I will have to say I have a weakness for PRP and Microneedling services. These treatments literally retrain the skin and trick the body into reversing the hands of time. The process is natural and results are phenomenal!

3)  How often do you recommend a client come in for a facial? 

That's a very common question, the answer greatly depends on the condition of the skin and client goals. That said healthy, balanced skin regenerates every 28 - 48 days therefore having a facial every 4 -6 weeks to remove dead skin cells and rid the skin of impurities, resulting in better results from your home care products.

4)  What skincare tips do you have for a home routine? 

This is easy: 

     1. Cleanse twice a day, EVERYDAY!

      2. Hydrate by drinking a minimum of 8 - 10 glasses of water everyday and by using a professional grade skin specific hydrator. Remember shriveled up raisins are just dehydrated grapes :)

     3. Protect!!! UVA (A = aging) rays, not heredity, are the main reason for premature aging. Use your SPF every day.

Burlesque Meets Boudoir

I first met burlesque dancer Franki Markstone at the 2010 Pin Up Burlesque Fest.  I had the privilege of watching her perform.  Her work is a credit to the female sex.  I had a chance to sit down with Franki over breakfast, and she dished the goods!

1) How long have you been a burlesque dancer, and what made you want to be a burlesque dancer?

I've been in burlesque since 2003 officially. I was already touring in strip clubs doing feature shows, and Vita Devoid asked me if I wanted to join her in creating a burlesque show. I was like, "Yeah! What's burlesque?" Hahaha. 

2) What is your favorite burlesque act?

I'd have to say my favorite act is Imogen Kelly's Orb Dress Dance. It's so elegant, and haunting, and moving. It made me cry the first time I saw it.

3) What idols that you look up to for inspiration?

Imogen Kelly, Ezi Rider, Sydni Deveraux

4) What tips do you have to give to aspiring burlesque dancers? 

Do your research. This isn't a fluff industry and nothing will be handed to you. If you really want to be a part of this industry it's best not to get sidetracked by the glamour. It's definitely work. Learn all you can, attend demos and workshops, create and polish an act to audition with. And most importantly, NEVER take yourself too seriously.

5) What is one little known fact about you?

I'm scared of the dark. Like, crazy scared. I have night lights all over my house.
